Evan Fink Period 6 In Mrs. Murrays history class we have set goals that we want to reach based on our geography skills and knowledge. We all started off by getting a packet if all the different continents of our world and naming what we knew on them. Some of them way easier than others such as the United States I know where every state is in the U.S. with the exception of like 3. Also in the United states I know about 15 capitols out of 50 states. We were told to set a goal of how much we would know by a certain date so me being me I set a reachable goal but not too easy just too challenge myself I did this with every goal we set. Oh it wasn’t just one goal we set many goals for every continent we were told. For example with Africa you name the ones you know, I knew about 3 tops I knew Egypt , Madagascar, and Libya, so since I knew so little I set the goal to learn 5 more soo I could know 8. The easiest way was to 1 actually take time and study the map 2 use ones I know so I can go north, south, east, and west (Mrs Murray showed us how to direct one another on a map using only those four directions) from the country I already knew. From this I learned the locations of Sudan (south of Egypt) Chad (south of Libya) and Algeria (west of Libya). This is how I easily picked up on learning my geography we did this for Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia/Oceania (which I had no clue about any of them besides Australia so for this one I just said the goal to be 4-6), Canada, Caribbean, middle east, North and south America, and finally the states and capitols of the united states. This has helped me learn so many more locations of countries it was very helpful to have I didn’t know half of the countries that I do know. Overall this is a great way to learn about our world. |
